Back to School

Rockingham Middle school kicked off the 2023-2024 school year with Open House on Thursday, August 24th from 5:00-7:00. We gave out schedules and students and teachers were able to get to know one another a little before the start of the year. Our first day was a great success! On Monday, August 28th, we kicked off what is sure to be the best year yet at RMS.

We welcomed photographers from Metro Portraits on September 21 and again on October 19. All students and staff got their portraits taken to be published in this year’s yearbook. Fall Sports teams were also photographed.

If you did not receive a link to view and purchase your student’s portraits, you can check your student’s school email account. If you have questions, please call the school or email Mrs. Britt.

Fourteen students from 7th and 8th grade attended the BETA Leadership Summit at the Great Wolf Lodge on October 8th - 10th. These students presented project proposals and all qualified to go to Nationals in Savannah, GA this summer! Congratulations to these students!

Picture Day

We celebrated Custodian Appreciation Day on October 2nd. Ms. Angie, Mr. Johnny, and Ms. Carmen (pictured above) work hard every day as our school is in session. In addition, Mr. McDonald, Mr. Dockery, Ms. Dawkins, and Ms. Nora work hard before and after school to make sure everything is in tip-top condition! If you see them, please tell them how much we appreciate everything that they do.

Yearbooks are on sale! Our early bird price is $40, and the sale ends November 30. This year, students can customize covers with names and icons. Eighth graders may purchase baby ads to honor their high-school transition. We will include the voices of our school through quotes detailing “why we love RMS.” Find all of this on the yearbook sale site!

Morning Book Checkout is now available. After reporting to homeroom, students may bring a hall pass to the media center between 7:30-7:55 to browse and select books.

Our annual fundraiser selling the World’s Finest Chocolate ran from September 12th through October 6th. Possible prizes include visiting the game truck, being entered into a drawing for items like an Oculus Quest, and even cash! Our top seller was Cameron Griffin! Congratulations and thanks to everyone for their participation and support! Prizes will begin to be distributed in December.

From the Media Center:

In reflection of the great things she has done for RMS, these words were used to describe her:
